Early
on Easter morning, some of the church families gathered to celebrate
the holiday with a breakfast.
It
was a very cheerful experience, in spite of the early morning hour.
It
took a bit of work to get everything ready to serve, but there was no
shortage of help.
Everyone
added their own piece to the menu or their own view of how it would all
fit together. And in the end, it all worked very well.
Some
people came early to monitor the work, and hopefully to be the first in
line. |
The kitchen was an extremely busy place
while things were being collected and prepared.
The
rest of us could only stand outside the kitchen and wait for someone to
call us all to the table. |
In
those long moments before the food was served, it helped to have
someone watch your back and keep you out of trouble.
And then, it was time to eat.
A
full plate makes an excellent excuse for friends to sit and talk, or
for an aunt to spend some time with her niece. |
Back
at the table, there
was enough choice to satisfy big appetites and even bigger ones, with a
little left over for seconds and thirds.
If
the crush of people seemed too hectic, there were quiet places in the
church where a person could read a good book. |
The
food lasted long enough to feed
everyone, including the workers, who always seem to come last in line.
At
the end of the morning, most of the serving dishes went home
considerably lighter than when they came. |
We proclaim to you what we have seen and
heard, so that you also may have fellowship with us.
And our fellowship is
with the Father and with his Son, Jesus Christ.
