A Kruiser enKouragement

A good excuse
for not
walking: Too Cold and Too Sick
Excuse buster: Walking can
add several years to your life!
Here
we are, nineteen days into February, and I have added a few more
excuses to my reasons-for-not-walking list: too cold, too sick, way too
windy,
way too tired. February has been so bad
that even the cats deserted me. Not one cat has wanted to accompany me
on the
walking trail, even with the promise of a free ride.
Problem is, with all these excuses, the
excuse-buster rule was not activated. So I have ended up with a lot of
no-walking days.
Right
in the middle of this slump, I stumbled across an article that
said “vigorous walking for half an hour five times per week could add
three
years to life expectancy.”
That
reminds me of some verses in Matthew 6.
“Therefore I tell you, do not
worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body,
what you
will wear. Is not life more important than food, and the body more
important
than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or
store
away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not
much more
valuable than they? Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to his
life?”
There
you have it. Worrying doesn’t add anything to your life.
But
walking does.
Hmmm. I wonder if any of the
cats want a ride?
Father, help me to see the importance
of having an intimate and full relationship with you. Help me to guard
the time
I need to take care of my heart, both physically and spiritually.
