The
Komstad Mission Society was formed on October 23, 1874. The following
minutes are from
the first recorded meeting, the minutes of which were translated from
Swedish to
English for the 125th Anniversary by Stefan Sandberg.
Meeting
of the Komstad Mission Society on May 6th, 1875.
The Chairman opened
the meeting with prayer and then took
the chair. The undersigned was elected as Secretary pro tem.
The
Chairman explained that the persons previously elected
as delegates at the meeting on October 23, 1874, this meeting held in Sioux
City,
P. Lindholm and C. Bengtson now had joined the First Swedish
Evangelical
Lutheran Church of Sioux City and this Society therefore had lost its
Secretary, P. Lindholm. Now therefore the meeting was asked if not two
other
delegates should be elected to replace these two resignations and this
question
was answered with a yes.
G.
Norgren was nominated and elected to fill P. Lindholm’s
position as Secretary and C. Anderson to replace C. Bengtson.
Decisions.
1st. That Komstad
Mission Society should apply for membership into the Swedish
Evangelical

Mission Society in co-operation with The First Swedish Evangelical

Lutheran
Church of Sioux City, Iowa, would send Brother Lindholm to the
above-referenced

and that the travel costs to be split evenly between the two
congregations.
4th.
That this
united action with the First Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church of
Sioux City,
Iowa, mentioned in paragraphs 2 and 3, should be proposed by a delegate
to
their meeting on May 10, 1875 and as the delegate [from Komstad] F.H.
Hammar
was elected.
5th. A proposal
was put before the meeting, that Anna Maria Anderson would offer, as a
gift,
land for a Church building (5 acres) of the Southeastern corner of the
Southeast
quarter of Section 18 Township 95 Range 51 Clay County, as well as a
letter
deed for this land upon which she herself had received full title. This
gift
was gratefully accepted by the meeting.
